There’s something so effortless yet chic about a messy bun. Whether you’re limited on time, on "day 4" hair, or just wanting to master the perfect go-to messy bun, this easy 4-step messy bun tutorial is for you!
Styled by our friend and crazy amazing hairstylist, Jill Buck (@jill901 on Instagram), this 3-minute hairstyle is quick, cute, and super easy. All you need is a hair tie, an elastic hairband, and a few bobby pins. Let’s get straight into it!
To start, brush through your hair gently, and if you’d like, add texturizing spray. Take your hairtie and start to make a ponytail, but stop halfway on the last loop, making a half pony.
Split the pony in half, bring it around atop the bun, and tie the two pieces together with an elastic band with 1-2 inches remaining.
Twist the new looped pony and secure the top hole over your first pony. Secure with bobby pins, and voila! The perfect low, messy bun. Pull out some whispies in front and twist them with your hand for a boho, easy-going look.
