30 DAYS OF GIVING: LOCAL SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

The time has never been better to help others in need. Looking to give back? Consider volunteering at these local organizations during the holiday season (and year round)!

No matter your interests or skills, you can give back to the United Way of Salt Lake. United Way is a nationwide organization that helps spread the word about other nonprofits in the community, and it also pools resources and people to help disadvantaged individuals through their own programs.

Give your time by tutoring kids, helping high schoolers apply to college, spreading the word about important programs, and more. Many opportunities are virtual, and all are safe social distance.

DYK? 511,000 Utahns, or 1 in 6 individuals, are at risk of missing a meal today. Help feed Utah by giving time at the Utah Food Bank, helping deliver or decorate food boxes individually, or with family or friends.

Utah has welcomed more than 60,000 refugees from around the world. Assist refugees in your area by developing friendships and helping those who have fled their homes integrate into their new communities.

Learn from their stories, skills, and traditions as you help tutor, mentor, and offer assistance — and create a unified Salt Lake.

With temperatures dropping, more people are in need of a hot meal and warm clothes. Give items or participate in Friday reach outs to the homeless through Friday Friends, a community of moms and kids that help to ease suffering in Salt Lake.

Through your time, talents, money, or resources, you can make the world a little brighter by giving back to your local community.
